Guild Guitars – The Best Of Guitars
Guild guitars and I were both born at the time in history. The year was 1953. But that’s not the only reason I have a soft spot in my heart for them. My first acoustic guitar was a Guild, as was the first 12-string I ever owned. These were great guitars when purchased in the ’60s and still are to this day.
Since the Company first began they have been crafting nothing but the very best in stringed instruments. At the beginning they were dubbed, “the Stradivari of Guitars” and they have held on to that idea of timeless quality for almost six decades. Their website is a great place to visit, where you’ll find all the latest models and a list of some of the famous musicians who have chosen the Guild name for their own instruments. George Benson, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton and Ritchie Havens are just a few of the world-famous clientele.
First headquartered in New York City, the brand is now located in New Hartford, Connecticut. There, they continue to supply discriminating musicians around the world with uncompromisingly crafted guitars that are beautiful, strong and balanced. Innovation continues and evolving quality control just keeps making the brand better and better as the years go by.
You probably know that good things aren’t cheap and cheap things aren’t good and, in that respect, Guilds are Good, but not cheap. You get what you pay for, right? Well, let’s hope so, anyway. With Guild, you get the best for not the most. That’s a pretty good arrangement.
Back in 1969, when Richie Havens took center stage at the Woodstock Festival he was playing his Guild, and he’s playing it still. They continue to make that same model, the D-40, to this day. It’s become famous, just like Richie.
For looks, for sound and for longevity Guild Guitars are serious contenders next to any guitars made. You’d think they had run out of improvements by now, but they just keep getting better. Try one out. Play well!
